While on a one-day gig in Indiana in 1990, I fell in love with a 'spotted pup' that had wandered onto the farm. When the farm-folks decided that 4 month old 'Zeb' would be executed for swallowing a live baby chicken whole, I offered to give him a home with no live chickens. They accepted. At 4 months of age, 'Zeb', now named 'Scooter', took a VERY long van ride to Massachusetts and joined CANDY at home. He was unable from that day forward to find any live chickens to eat, but adapted well to sleeping on the couch and eating anything else that wasn't nailed down. If Scooter had suction cups on his feet, he could walk on the ceiling. He does a pretty darn good impression of flying, even without wings. Scooter is sorta...well...uh...let's call it 'energetic'. Silly, spotty Scooter went to the Rainbow Bridge on 1.15.03. At almost 13 years of age, he had lived a long time for an English Setter. It never seems long enough though, does it? I love you Scooter and I will see you again someday. I hope there's plenty of live chickens wherever you are. |
